CROSSING THE DELAWARE – 1776

Knowing Hessian forces would be off guard on Christmas night, General George Washington led a dangerous winter crossing of the Delaware River.

In freezing conditions, his forces launched a surprise attack on the British-aligned troops in Trenton.

Revolutionary forces used the phrase “Victory or Death” to ensure silence and unity during the mission.
